Meet Gracie!

Goat Naming- enews

Over the next month or so, residents might catch a glimpse of the City's weed abatement goats as they graze on hillsides in the Bryant Ranch area on Yorba Linda’s east side. This vital activity helps make Yorba Linda more fire-safe by clearing open spaces of dead vegetation and weeds, which, left unchecked, become fuel for dangerous wildfires.

To kick off this year's goat-led weed abatement program, the City hosted a special contest during our Goat Meet & Greet Event to name one of the baby goats. We received over a hundred submissions from the community, including creative entries like Goaty McGoat-face, Vincent Van Goat, and Top Goat. After hours of passionate debate, the Goat Naming Committee (known internally as the “GO-NAC”) settled on “Gracie,” a submission that pays homage to the Land of Gracious Living!

Thank you to everyone who submitted a name. Once Gracie is old enough to join the working herd, she’ll be chowing down weeds with the best of the best!
