Through the American Rescue Plan of 2021 (ARPA) and the County of Orange, the City of Yorba Linda received grant funding to support food distributions to senior citizens and other vulnerable residents experiencing food insecurity. Similar to the first round of the Meal Gap Program, the objective of Round 2 is to utilize qualified Yorba Linda restaurants to serve pre-prepared, freshly boxed meals to participants of the City's existing food distribution programs. In return, restaurants will directly invoice the City for the number of meals prepared (100-140 boxes) and will be compensated at the end of their distribution.
Two distribution times are available (breakfast and lunch) Monday through Friday at the Yorba Linda Community Center. Breakfast will be provided to program participants from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and lunch will be provided from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (times subject to change). To participate, restaurants must be able to prepare a freshly boxed meal option(s) at a fixed rate of less than $20 per meal (price shall only include the cost of meal and tax, no gratuity or other service fees). Also, restaurant staff must be able to physically attend and distribute the freshly boxed meals.
