CA Governor Closes Indoor Operations for Certain Business Sectors

Statewide Closures Announced

Effective July 13, the Governor announced a State Health Order requiring the following sectors to close their indoor operations statewide:

  • Restaurants;
  • Wineries & Tasting Rooms;
  • Movie Theaters;
  • Family Entertainment Centers;
  • Zoos and Museums; and
  • Card Rooms.

Additionally, the Governor ordered that bars, pubs, breweries, and brewpubs must close all operations. While these sectors were previously closed in Orange County, they are now closed statewide.

Countywide Closures

Counties that have remained on the County Monitoring List for 3 consecutive days, including Orange County as of July 13, are required to shut down the following industries or activities unless they can be modified to operate outside or by pick-up:

  • Fitness centers;
  • Worship services;
  • Protests;
  • Offices for non-essential sectors;
  • Personal care services, like nail salons, body waxing and tattoo parlors;
  • Hair salons and barbershops; and
  • Malls.

City Offers Temporary Outdoor Business Expansion

Restaurants and other businesses interested in temporarily expanding their outdoor business operations/outdoor dining should review our modified planning operations page for helpful information and directions for filing a Temporary Use Permit. The expected duration of this closure is unknown, and was made in response to the rapidly escalating infection rate happening in California.
