The innovative Affordable ADU Loan Program provides eligible homeowners a loan of up to $100,000 to complete the construction of rental ADUs for very low-income tenants. The 20-year loans are partially forgivable, deferred, and low-interest as long as the homeowner rents their ADU to income-qualified tenants for the first ten of the 20 years. Homeowners also receive funding for professional property management services to assist with tenant screening and leasing.
These shared-property rentals will provide ten years of stable, appropriately priced housing for very low-income households, add valuable RHNA credits for Yorba Linda, and contribute one ADU at a time to solving the housing affordability crisis. Upon repayment of the loan, borrowers have the flexibility to use the ADU as they choose, and a new ADU loan will be issued to create another affordable home for someone in need.
