With the recent opening of its newest facility, the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center, the Parks and Recreation Department is excited to offer expanded arts programming including new classes in visual arts, dance, theater, music, and more, as well as other cultural arts programs and events.  Look for information in upcoming issues of The Guide, our e-newsletter, and social media sites. Summer stARTs at the Cultural Arts Center, where Parks and Recreation staff are offering a variety of programs for all age levels!  Browse summer activities below and register for programs at, where you can also browse the Summer 2022 Guide and register for all Parks and Recreation Department programs and summer camps.  

Family Activities

Youth & Family Ceramics Painting

Spend an afternoon at the Arts Studio painting a ceramic piece! Attendees can choose from a variety of pieces and all pieces will be glazed and fired after painting. Parents may drop off children or stay and participate. Parents are welcome to paint their own piece, too, but must register and pay if they will be participating. 

$15 per person

Family STEAM Night

Friday, July 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Families are invited to see where art and science meet at the first ever Family STEAM Night at the Cultural Arts Center. Attendees will enjoy a science show for all ages and a variety of hands-on art and science activities. Light snacks will be served. Only one registration is required per family.

Maker's Movies

The whole family is invited to enjoy a movie shown on the big screen in the Virginia De Land Theater. We will start each movie off with a craft led by Parks & Recreation staff. For seat count purposes, please register both adults and children attending (no charge for adults). Babies in laps do not need to register.

Parent Toddler Art Time (And Siblings Too!)

Our popular Parent Toddler Art Time will be returning this fall. In the meantime, parents and toddlers are invited to bring their older siblings who would normally be in school to join in the fun. Each child will create their own masterpiece with the help of their parent. Please register each child who will be attending. Suggested age is 2-8.

$5 per child

Adult Programs

A Night of Comedy at the Virginia De Land Theater

Saturday, August 20, 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Enjoy an evening of comedy at the Virginia De Land Theater at the Cultural Arts Center. The event will begin with a cocktail hour featuring light snacks and a beer, wine, and soft drink bar. Afterwards, guests will enjoy a line-up of three professional comedians. Attendees will receive one complimentary drink and additional drinks will be available for purchase. Guests must be 21+.

Wine & Paint Nights

Enjoy a night out at the Cultural Arts Cente for a wine and paint night. Attendees will receive step-by-step instruction to create their own masterpiece while enjoying light snacks and drinks. Ticket includes one complimentary glass of wine or beer with additional drinks available for purchase.

Guests must be 21+.

Family Art Experience

Family ART Experience is a series of workshops designed for families to engage in art experiences and exploration together.  Each month will feature one form of art such as acrylic painting, watercolor, ceramics, culinary art, jewelry making, chalk, and much more.  Workshops are held Saturday mornings and the registration fee is $15.00 per family.  Upcoming dates include:

Chalk Art Festival

Save the date for the second annual Chalk Art Festival at the Cultural Arts Center! The event will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 5:30 p.m. and feature displays from professional chalk artists, entertainment, kids activities, food trucks, and more! Parent Toddler Art Time

Parent Toddler Art Time is a series of workshops designed for our littlest artists to explore the arts with projects geared towards artists ages 2-5.
