Resources for Families

The City of Yorba Linda recognizes the difficulties facing families staying at home during the COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis. The City is frequently monitoring the situation and will update this page with resources for family fun and enrichment.

Yorba Linda Public Library Programs

Yorba Linda residents and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District students are invited to apply for a temporary digital library card. Temporary digital library cards will provide access to our eLibrary including digital magazines, streaming music, eBooks, eAudiobooks, Rosetta Stone, and more through June 30.

Virtual Recreation Center

The City of Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department’s Virtual Recreation Center is here to provide fun, fitness, arts, education, and enrichment through these unprecedented times.  We are committed to ensuring our community has the resources to maintain their health and well-being.

Tones at 2

Starting March 27, Orange County Fire Authority is launching “Tones at 2” (that’s fire lingo for “fire tones at 2 p.m.”). This Facebook Live feed will pull the curtains back of Orange County Fire Authority. Geared towards elementary aged students, firefighters will be showing you different aspects of the fire department over the next two weeks including OCFA fire stations, fire investigation dog “Freedom,” a fire helicopter and much more.

So remember, at 2 p.m. every Monday through Friday on Facebook, you are invited to tune in, learn and, of course, ask lots of questions. The OCFA hopes this will be a fun and interactive learning tool while we are all adjusting to a new normal. Video topics include a fire station tour, how to prevent home cooking fires, emergency medical services and ambulances, learning to plan for disasters, an introduction to "Freedom" the fire investigation dog, air operations, and more! You can view past episodes on the OCFA vimeo page.

For questions or comments, please contact Brandi Najm at the Orange County Fire Authority.

Yorba Linda Bear Hunt

Bears in Yorba Linda? That’s right, there have been several teddy bear sightings in the windows of Yorba Linda homes! Take the family out for a neighborhood teddy-bear hunt this weekend and see if you can spot any. Want to join in the fun? Display a bear in your window for your neighbors to spot! While outside, please remember to maintain social distancing and stay safe!  Be sure to use #YLBearHunt in your social posts so everyone can follow along.
