Teen night out - knott's scary farm

Date: Saturday, October 19

Location: Thomas Lasorda Field House

Time: 5:00-11:30 PM

Cost: $40

Teens are invited to a special Halloween Excursion to Knott's Scary Farm! Participants will meet at the Field House and be transported to and from Knott's with Recreation Staff chaperones. Don't miss out on this spooktacular night!

Youth Empowerment service day 

Date: Saturday, November 16

Location: Thomas Lasorda Field House

Time: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM

Cost: Free

Students in grades 6-12 can give back to the community by creating care packages for children in need at Children's Hospital Orange County and Operation Santa Clause through the Orange County Social Services Agency. This special event is also an opportunity to gain service hours for school. 

Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Year-Round Volunteer Program 

Volunteer opportunities are available for Yorba Linda students in grades 9-12 who need service hours for school and are enthusiastic about giving back to their community! Opportunities include volunteering at various recreation programs and special events. Some of the programs/events where volunteers are needed include:

  • Mini Sports for Mighty Tykes
  • Spike Time Youth Volleyball
  • Kids Night Out
  • Kids Community Swap Meet
  • 4th of July Spectacular - Kid's Zone
  • Flashlight Egg Hunt
  • Egg-Citement Hunt
  • Youth Empowerment Service Day
  • Senior Dances/Events
  • Breakfast with Santa

The Summer Volunteen Program is a mentorship and leadership training program for Yorba Linda teens ages 14-17 years old. This program allows teens to enhance their life and work skills while working side by side with Recreation Staff in our summer programs and camps. If your teen is looking to get involved in their community, gain work experience and earn service credit for school, then this is the right program for them. Volunteens are needed for the following programs:

  • Adventure Playground
  • Summer Youth Programs
  • Spike Time Youth Volleyball

Applications for the Summer 2020 Volunteen Program will be available on February 3, 2020.

Teen Action Committee

The Yorba Linda Teen Action Committee program is a leadership based volunteer organization designed for 7th and 8th grade middle school students who live or attend a public or private school in Yorba Linda. Teen Action Committee members will participate in a variety of community service projects as well as assist in planning and implementing city-sponsored events. 

Applications for the 2020-2021 Teen Action Committee will be available on April 6, 2020.
