Voter registration and how to vote

If you are not currently registered to vote, please visit the Orange County Registrar of Voters' website to learn more.

How to Vote

All registered voters in Orange County will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. These ballots can be returned via mail service, deposited into an official secure ballot dropbox, or taken to a voting center. Do you prefer to cast your ballot in person? No problem! Visit any Vote Center to cast your ballot in person.

City Council Vacancies 

Two City Council Member seats will be on the next General Municipal Election ballot on November 8, 2022. 

Eligibility

To be eligible to hold office as a City Council Member, a person must be 18 years old and a registered voter residing within the boundaries of the City of Yorba Linda. All necessary forms are available from the City Clerk on the opening date of the nomination period (113 days prior to the municipal election).

NOMINATION PROCESS

The nomination period opens on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 7:30 a.m. and closes on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 5 p.m. If an incumbent who is eligible to run does not file, the deadline will be extended to Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. Those who are eligible and interested in running for office as a City Council Member can obtain nomination papers from the Office of the City Clerk, and are encouraged to file early to correct any possible errors or insufficiencies in the forms.

NOMINATION period extension

Based on the close of business on August 12, the nomination period deadline has been extended to Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 5 p.m.
