Progress continues to be made on the new Cultural Arts Center, which is scheduled to open in late fall 2020.
The new Cultural Arts Center will be approximately 13,500 square feet and will include a Black Box Theater, Green Room, Dance Studio, Gallery Space, and Arts Studio, and will share outdoor seating throughout the landscaped paseo, which runs between the Arts Center and the new Library, which shares a campus with the center. The Cultural Arts Center will be operated by the Parks and Recreation Department and will offer a variety of adult and youth classes and programs such as dance, exercise, drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, theater, and music and voice lessons. The Black Box Theater, which will be named the Virginia De Land Theater, is anticipated to be a popular venue for rehearsals and performances, which will include a green room for performers that will double as a music studio. The Arts Center will be used by local community groups and non-profit organizations to host theater productions, public art exhibits, art festivals, and other special events.
