Aircraft Noise /John Wayne Airport
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the pilot-in-command of each aircraft have sole jurisdiction and responsibility for flight paths. Accordingly, only the FAA has enforcement capability over these issues. The County of Orange, as the proprietor of John Wayne Airport, has no authority or control over aircraft in flight. John Wayne does have designated flight paths and agreements with adjacent cities to minimize noise impacts, but there will be occasions in which an aircraft may have to deviate from the routine flight patterns.
